Tenafly Has 2 Big Events This Weekend

Tenafly has 2 big events this weekend.  I don’t know how much you do know about Tenafly so let me tell you a little bit about this town.

Tenafly is a wonderful classic suburban town.  While a lot of it is highly affluent, it has a much wider demographc than most people understand.  Not every house is a $2 million plus luxury home.  Prices generally start in the mid 500’s and go up to $4 million +  Tenafly is a big draw for families because Tenafly High School often has the highest average SAT scores in Bergen County.  This is a great town to live in with a wonderful business district, great town services and a strong community spirit.

I lived in Tenafly for nearly 30 years and loved it.  At this stage of my life living alone (only son is now an adult and living elsewhere), I really don’t need a house so I found an apartment in Englewood.  But, I’m in Tenafly so often that I still feel a part of this town.  It’s simply a great place to live.

This weekend we have 2 major events:

Rubin Run on Sunday

The Rubin Run is a JCC on the Palisades event that has been happening for over 40 years.  What’s truly great and unique about this run is that it’s in 2 sections.  One is for professional, competitive runners and the other is just a fun family run.  The races are 10k, 5k and a Fun Run and there’s still time to register for all of it.  The Rubin Run is one of the most important and well sponsored runs in Bergen County.  It begins at the JCC and finsishes there with more fun things to do as well as refreshments.

Tenafly Senior Citizen Health Fair on Saturday

The Tenafly Senior Center is a wonderful resource for the public.  It’s open to everyone – not just the citizens of Tenafly.  This is a very active senior center with a huge assortment of activities and services.  They are having a Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday from 11 to 3.

This free event will give you a lot of information about the resources available to you.  In addition you’ll learn about how to remain healthy and active.  The Tenafly Senior Center is located at 20 Summit Street.  While they have a small parking lot, there’s plenty of parking across the street in a strip mall.

Tenafly has 2 big events in the Rubin Run and the Senior Citizen Health Fair.  While you’re in Tenafly, check out some of the local businesses.  Next door is Fine Wines, across the street is a Stop and Shop supermarket and next to that is TPR for pizza or great Italian food.  Want Chinese takeout?  Just a bit farther is Good Taste.  Why not visit the stores and restaurants downtown – 1 block south of the Senior Center.

Have pets?  There’s Plaza Pet.  Want a burger?  Brasserie.  There’s also CVS, Tenafly Kosher Deli, Miller’s Bakery, Joyce Florist and so much more.  Around the corner is the Tenafly Diner too.
