This weekend in Bergen County has a lot going on that’s fun and varied. Before I start, I’d like to offer an apology.
Because I write everything myself, it’s a problem if I get sick. That’s why I didn’t write any blog articles for past 2 weeks and I sincerely apologize for this. Usually I can handle things but this tine I was in bed for over 1 week.
So let’s take a look at what we have for this weekend in Bergen County now:
Thursday Night
Faith Ringgold
Faith Ringgold is a wonderful American artist. Although highly recognized in Europe, she was shunned for years in the US because she was a woman and African American. Today she is considered one of our greatest contemporary artists. Her paintings hang in prestigious galleries including New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Thursday night at 7:30 pm is a very special event recognizing Faith Ringgold at Bergen Community College’s Ciccone Theater. This will be a multi faceted event featuring Faith’s art, oral presentations and musical interludes. Tickets to this gala are only $25 but reduced for BCC students, staff and senior citizens.
Poor Fellas – 6 One Act Plays
Poor Fellas is a free theatrical production of 6 one act plays acted and produced by Bergen County College students. It’s an ensemble cast and you will be amazed at how talented these students are. It’s happening at the Ender Hall Theater at 7:30 pm. Let’s come out and support these highly talented students. While this is a free event, they ask that you register for free tickets.
Grow A Garden In Milk Jugs
Come to the Community Garden in Johnson Park Thursday night at 7:30 pm for a fun evening. It’s the Garden Club of Hackensack monthly meeting all about using milk jugs to create a garden. All you need to bring is a clean, empty milk jug, scissors and seeds. You don’t have seeds? They’ll supply you. If it’s raining, go to the Hackensack Recreation Center at 116 Holt St. It’s only $5 per person. This is really a lot of fun.

The Players Guild of Leonia has a new production of a rock musical – The Toxic Avenger – finishing up this weekend. Tickets are still available at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday nights plus a 3 pm matinee on Sunday. Because this award winning musical is adult themed, it’s not at all suitable for children.
