auditionsJust a few things for you this week.  That’s because we’ve had so much going on for Halloween.  I hope you had fun and were visited by many cute little ghosts and goblins.  Thankfully the after school hours they were out were rain free.

While we have just a few things this week, I’m sure you’ll find something fun to do.  Here’s the lineup in no particular order:

  1. Auditions
  2. Tenafly Nature Center
  3. Billy Martin
  4. The Crucible
  5. Paramus Elks Car Show

The Players Guild of Leonia Auditions bedroom farce

Auditions are happening at The Players Guild of Leonia (130 Grand Ave) beginning tonight for Bedroom Farce by the British playwright, Alan Ayckbourn.  This is a full length British comedy and it’s quite funny.  Actors are not going to use a British accent however since the Director wants American accents.  Auditions have begun but you still have tomorrow night (Nov 2nd) at 7-9 pm and Saturday morning from 10 to 12.  Call backs will be on Sunday at 7 pm.  Click this link for all the details.

remarkable raptorsThe Tenafly Nature Center

The Tenafly Nature (313 Hudson Ave in Tenafly) has a very special event on Sunday.  Remarkable Raptors  brings you the very unique opportunity to meet both a hawk and an owl up close.  In addition, you’ll learn all about raptor birds and how they fit into the environment.  Cost is only $10 per person for non-members.  This is held outdoors rain or shine so dress for this.  Registration is online..

Billy Martin at the Black Box Theater

Billy Martin is an avant garde musician with a large following.  He uses a mixture of percussion, voice, odd objects and sounds.  This creates what I feel is truly experimental music as a result.  Come to Englewood’s Black Box Theater this Saturday night at 7:30 whether you’re a Billy Marin fan or just want a different experience,  Tickets are $25 (students are $15) and can be purchased online or with cash at the door.

The Crucible by Arthur Miller The Crucible

The Crucible is one of the greatest plays written by Arthur Miller.  It’s based on the Salem witch hunts and won the 1953 Tony award for Best Play.  This is one of the most highly regarded plays of the 20t century.  Put on by Bergen Stages, the student theater at Bergen County Community College, performances are this weekend..  You’ll think that you’re seeing seasoned professionals performing because the students are that good.

While this production actually started last weekend, I thought I’d save it for now because of everything that was going on around Halloween.  Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 plus a Saturday matinee at 2.  This is at the Ciccone Theater on the Bergen County Community College Campus at 400 Paramus Road in Paramus.  Tickets are purchased online.

Paramus Elks Car ShowThe Paramus Elks Classic Car Show

Because of weather, this car show was rescheduled for this Sunday from 9 to 3.  Location is behind Raymour and Flannigan at 200 Route 17 North in Paramus.  They say they’ll have over 200 cars and motorcycles, a DJ, vendor tables and food trucks.  It’s going to be a lot of fun and trophies will be given out to best in show..  You’ll see a lot of very exotic and top level classic cars as a result.

These are just a few things to go to this weekend.  Sometimes tiny is mighty as they say because this is quite a lineup.  Enjoy the weekend at one of our County Parks too because the weather is going to be great.
