Carnival, cars, crafts, wine and more make this a busy weekend for you. “And More” includes an artisan market in Fort Lee, the Tenafly Nature Center and Shakespeare’s Othello in Englewood,
Because so many people are away the end of July and 1st week of August, everything winds down. As a result, you don’t find a lot of new events happening. Sometimes none. It all starts to change around mid August.
Carnival, Cars, Crafts and Wine
Let’s take a look now at what we have coming up this weekend:
Carnival
The Waldwick Lions Club has it’s Annual Family Days Carnival happening this week. Held at the Forum School Driveway (107 Wyckoff Avenue), you pay 1 price ($30) for all the rides. This is a major fund raiser for the Club’s philanthropic work with the sight impaired. The carnival is on Tuesday through Friday nights at 7-10:30 pm.

4th Annual Sahara Club Car Show & BBQ
This was originally scheduled for July but was rained out. As a result, it’s been moved to this weekend and is still at 24 River Road in Bogota.
It’s a judged show starting at 9 am end ending with the award of trophies at 3 pm. You won’t want to miss this one because judged shows usually bring out better and more cars. Admission is free too!
Hermitage Museum Outdoor Craft Show
The Hermitage Museum is having an outdoor crafts show this Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. The Museum itself will be open for tours and check out the gift shop too!
This is a major juried craft show with over 75 crafters displaying their wares. Admission is only $4 with all children free. Proceeds go to maintaining this historical treasure located at 335 Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus. It’s on whether rain or shine too.
Wine Festival
Demarest Farms is having it’s annual Wine Festival this Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 pm. You’ll get to meet the winemakers of 4 award winning regional wineries, sample different wines and enjoy great food while you’re listening to live music.
Tickets to this very popular Wine Festival are only $15 and well worth it. Demarest Farms is located at 244 Wierimus Road in Hillsdale. Don’t forget to bring home one of Demarest Farms famous fruit pies too!
This wraps it up for carnival, cars, crafts and wine. Next comes “and more”.
And More
Othello by the Black Box Theater
Othello is being presented outdoors this Wednesday by the Black Box Studios as part of its free Shakespeare in the Park summer series. Performances are on the Englewood Public Library front plaza (31 Engle Street) on consecutive Wednesday nights starting at 8 pm through mid September. There are indoor options as well. You’ll find all the details on the Black Box Performing Arts Center website.
Othello is one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies. It has to do with the battle for Cyprus in the late 1500’s. Because Shakespeare was writing around this time, it was a contemporary topic for him.
Fort Lee Artisan Market
The Main Street Pops Fort Lee Artisan Market is back. Centered at 231 Main Street in town, it’s open from 11 am to 4 pm. The aim of this monthly market is to support local small business and emerging artisan talents.
It’s not your usual artisan display. This is high quality hand made items presented by the artists themselves. You’ll find a wide variety including not only items but artisanal food too. Live music of course too. Come take a look. I’m sure you’ll find something unique that’s beautiful and fits your budget.
Tenafly Nature Center
The Tenafly Nature center has many beloved monthly events. This weekend is among it’s most popular. There’s the full moon hike for adults, Forest Defenders and Seasonal Scavenger Hunt.
You might want to get tickets to the Butterfly House because it’s closing down on Labor Day for the season. Tickets are only $2 per person and proceeds go to fund this amazing display.
Carnival, Cars, Crafts, Wine and More
So there you have it. It’s another busy weekend in Bergen County. Writing these blog articles to let you know what’s coming up is fun and, frankly, a source of pride. Bergen County has a lot to offer. This is truly a great place to live. Take advantage of 1 or more events and have a fun weekend!
