summer timeIt’s summer time.  There’s not much new this week.  As we get closer to August, there are fewer events going on locally.  This is because it’s vacation time.  People do more things outdoors and wind down on the weekends for those of us who stay home.

While I try to write an article about what’s coming up in Bergen County early in the week, there really wasn’t a lot new to talk about.

Ongoing Events

I know that a lot of you have been reading my article on summer concerts.  This series of outdoor concerts happens both in local towns as well as County Parks.  There’s also a lot happening at our nature centers still.  Check out the Tenafly Nature Center, Closter Nature Center and Flat Brook Nature Center.

In addition to the summer concerts Bergen County has series of outdoor movies in it’s parks called Movies After Dark.  You’ll find it all on their website.  Don’t forget to check out your local library and town recreation department too.  Bergen County towns often have a public pool too.  Memberships are for the entire season and it’s pretty reasonable too.

Golf in Bergen County

There’s still plenty of golf left because the season extends until late in the fall.  Bergen County has a fabulous golf p rogram for both youngsters and adults.  There’s even a special allowance for seniors.  Golf Bergen County  is run by the Bergen County Parks Department with 6 public golf courses.

Have Fun In Our Parks

The Bergen County Parks Department is truly amazing because of the large number of parks available to us and their extensive programs.  You can go camping, swimming, fish, ride a pony or horse, barbecue or just hang out.  Children with disabilities have a special playground water sprinkler area at Van Saun Park.  While maintaining their 21 parks, no one is forgotten.  A day in the park is a good day indeed and we have plenty to choose from.

The Jersey Shore

Bergen County is only just over 1 hour away from the Jersey Shore.  Most of the popular places, however, are a bit further south and more like 1.5 hours away.  As a result, going down the shore to a place like Point Pleasant is only 1.5 hours away.  I can tell you that this is a wonderful day trip.  A lot of us do this – go down for the day and finish it off with a shore dinner at night.  Home by 10 at the latest and you’ll feel terrific with all your cares away.

While the Jersey Shore isn’t in Bergen County, I’m mentioning it becasue it’s a huge part of our summers here and so very close.

Summer Time

Because it’s summer time and things are winding down now, I won’t be writing about upcoming events every week.  However I will keep you up to date on the market and any properties I put up for sale or rent.  Hope you enjoy the next few weeks.  Get out and have fun!  Fall is coming in another 2 months after all.

I’ll still be working all summer so if you need me to help you with real estate, or if you just have some questions and need advice, call or text me.  My phone is 201-741-8490.
