Father's DayFather’s Day Weekend is a bit quieter than most.  This is because Father’s Day Sunday is all about Dad.  We still have a Church Feast, family carnival, comedy night plus 2 cars shows happening.

How about giving Dad a fun experience this year?  Why not take him to a car show or a Friday night comedy show?  Does he like to fish?  Did you know that fishing is available at several Bergen County Parks Dahnert’s Lake County Park and Ramapo Valley County Reservation immediately come to mind.  There are a lot of things you can do with Dad.  Why not make it an experience both you and he will remember?  My Dad is gone;  what I remember is our shared experiences.  Not the ties we got him.

Our Lady of Mt Carmel Feast and Music Under The Stars

The Our Lady of Mt Carmel Feast is very likely the biggest Church Feast in Bergen County.  It has to be held at the Lyndhurst Town Hall Park on Delafield Ave because it’s so big.  This is it’s 30 year too.  Hours are Wednesday to Friday 6-10 and Saturday 5-10.  It’s famous for delicious Italian Food and it’s 50/50 raffles.  There are several every night but the star is the big one announced Saturday night.  Last year the winner too home over $29,000.  Do you have children?  If so you’ll want to visit the Rectory this week because you can buy discounted ride tickets there.

Music Under The Stars Concerts happen twice each night.  You’ll hear truly outstanding bands and singers all of whom are local talent.  There’s nothing like dancing to wonderful music under the stars at night.

Glen Rock 4 Day Family Fair

Come to Glen Rock this week for a major carnival event.  The Glen Rock 4 Day Family Fair is on from Wednesday through Saturday until 10 pm at night.  It starts at 5:30 every day except Saturday.  Saturday starts at 5 pm.

You have more than enough rides, plenty of food and all sorts of games to try your luck at.  Since it’s a carnival and very popular, it runs for 4 days from Wednesday through Saturday until 10 pm.  Starting time is 5:30 pm except for Saturday which begins at 5 pm.  While it’s billed as a Family Fair, it’s really a carnival.  Location is Wilde Park in town too.

The Hackensack Performing Ars Center (HACPAC) is really busy this week

Dancing Through The Decades

Dancing Through The Decades is being presented to audiences on Saturday.  Performances for this 90 minute show are at 11, 1:30, 4 and 6:30.  It’s being performed by the non profit organization, HeArt in Motion.  Saturday night is already sold out so don’t wait to get your tickets which are $15-30.

The Mount Olympus of Comedy

Come over to HACPAC Friday night for a night of non-stop laughter starting at 8 pm.  Four very gifted stand up comedians will have you laughing from the very start to the last moments.  The Mount Olympus of Comedy will exhaust you because you’ll be laughing so much.  Tickets are only $30 for an evening of fun.

2 Car Shows

The Emerson Chamber of Commerce is putting on it’s 3rd annual car show this Saturday 9-2..  It’s at the Stop and Show parking lot (that is a huge space by the way) on Kinderkamack Road.  Admission is $5 (under 12 free) with all proceeds going to local charities and the high school.

A British Car Show is being held at The Hermitage in Ho Ho Kus on Saturday 9-4.  Classic British cars and motorcycles will be on display.  Admission is $10 adults, $5 children and under 6 free.  This is a rare opportunity to see classic British cars.

So that’s it for this Father’s Day Weekend,  I hope that you have a great Father’s Day.  If you don’t have a father to celebrate with, go to an event and have fun.
