an afternoon on the farmIt’s a fun weekend in Bergen County because we have an impressive assortment of things to do.  I had to write a separate article on the fabulous Arts Ramble 22.  That’s  because it runs through multiple towns with a dizzying array of visual and performance art.

We have 8 other events for you to consider.  What you have ranges from a car show to a historical lecture by one of Aaron Burr’s descendants.  Let’s see what we have now:

An Afternoon on the Farm

Spend an entire afternoon at Sun Valley Farm (800 Ramapo Valley Rd, Mahwah) for a donation of $100 adults and $25 for 12 and under.  This is a fundraiser for The Hermitage and runs from 12 to 5 on Saturday.  You’ll have lunch, learn everything about farming and even meet a beekeeper.  Music, games and more at this unique opportunity to spend an afternoon at a real, working farm.

Dr. Sherri Burr, An Aaron Burr Descendant

Dr Sherri Burr is an extremely impressive woman in what she’s accomplished in her career.  Her lineage goes directly back to Aaron Burr.  Dr Burr is giving a lecture Saturday night at the Hermitage on the relationship between Aaron Burr and the 2 ladies who lived at The Hermitage during Revolutionary times.  Reception is at 6 and lecture at 7; tickets are only $25 ($20 for members).

11th Annual PBA Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show

This is a major car show held at the Northern Valley Demarest High School (150 Knickerbocker Rd, Demarest) from 10 to 3.  Make a point of getting there when it opens because there’s a ceremony with the Police Pipe and Drums of Bergen County.  In addition, the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club.

Woody Allen’s Central Park West

It’s time for a laugh and the Bergen .County Players have one for you.  They are concluding their 89th season with the 1 act play, Central Park West, by Woody Allen.  Performances are Friday and Saturday night at 8; Sunday is 1 pm.  Get your tickets now before they sell out!

Scavenger Hunt, Full Moon Hike & Butterflies

The Tenafly Nature Center has a very packed weekend because it’s Nature Day on Sunday.  Nature Day is an annual event that runs all day in 2 sessions – morning and afternoonAdditionally, Sunday also opens the Butterfly House.

Saturday is busy too because there’s a scavenger hunt in the afternoon and an adult full moon hike at night.

Crafts In The Park

Westwood is the place again for an all day outdoor crafts fair held at Veterans Park.  So far 110 craftsmen are participating and there’s all sorts of food to buy.  You can even get home made popcorn!  Munch away while you’re seeing wonderful artistic works.

Fort Lee Main Street Artisan Market

This is the 1st of a monthly series to help support local business and bring attention to the stores along Main Street.  More than 30 artists and craftsmen will have all sorts of hand crafted goods on display and for sale.  Located at 231 Main Street (Hudson Lights Park between Schlosser and Hudson on Main Street), come on over between 10 and 4 on Saturday.  Live music will be playing and you’ll even find artisanal food to munch on.

It’s most definitely a fun weekend in Bergen County.  There’s something terrific going on every day.  You’ll never say “There’s nothing to do” when you live here!
