1st week of juneIt’s the 1st week of June and we have a lot in store for you this weekend.  The weather forecast is ideal for the weekend – high 70’s and not too humid!  There’s a large number of different events this weekend while we also have some duplicates.

Because the weather is sunny, outdoor car shows are returning.  You’ll see some major club shows soon; we have 3 local shows this weekend.  There’s other outdoor events as well as live theater, outdoor festivals, a flea market, 2 running events (including a dog walk) and an outdoor art show.  So let’s get to it!

3 Car Shows On Sunday  Car Show

Antique cars, classic cars and custom cars are all on display Sunday at 3 different car shows:  Added to this are trucks and bikes.

Classic Car, Truck and Bike Show in Hackensack

This runs 10 to 4 and is hosted by St Paul’s Lodge at 184 Berdan Place.  Some of the funds generated are being donated to St Jude’s Children’s Research Center.  I am very partial to St Jude’s Cancer Hospital for Children since I know people whose children’s car showslives were saved there.

Waldwick Community Alliance 14th Annual Car Show

This is held at the Waldwick Train Station (4 Hewson Ave) from 9:30 to 3.  Proceeds are for the continued restoration of the train station and it’s museum.  Admission is $5 per person; 12 and under are free.

Classic car shows typically have music and food plus occasional raffles.

Englewood Caribbean Festival  Caribbean food

Come to 8 Depot Square this Sunday from 11 to 5 and enjoy Caribbean  culture and food.  There will be vendors and informational exhibits to introduce you to the Caribbean.  This is a rare opportunity to get to know what this part of the world has to offer as a result.  Add in a DJ, petting zoo and free bouncy houses for an event tailored for everyone.

Ridgewood Art in the Park

This hasn’t happened since Covid started.  Art in the Park is happily back again.  Location is Van Neste Square in the heart of Ridgewood’s downtown business district.  It’s an evening event (6:30-9 pm) with local artists exhibiting and selling their work.  Have dinner in Ridgewood too because this town is known for it’s fabulous restaurants.

Tenafly Run and Dog Walk

Tenafly 5k Run and Dog Walk Is Sunday

This is huge.  It’s one of the major running events in Bergen County (USATF-sanctioned) and in it’s 24th year.  Because this is such a big deal, thousands show up to run, walk or take their dog for a walk every year.  It’s not too late to register.  Go to their website now because registration is open through Thursday.  Proceeds support the Tenafly Educational Foundation.

Go The Distance For Autism  Go the Distance for Autism

Here’s another Sunday run but this one is a major fundraiser for autism programs and resources. Location is Bergen County Community College (400 Paramus Rd, Paramus).  It’s an unfortunate fact that New Jersey has the 2nd highest rate of autism in the US.  Go The Distance For Autism yourself.  It’s not too late to join in.  All details are on their website.

HACPAC is having a very special evening Saturday night.  It’s an evening of improv comedy at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center.   Billed as the “Howdy Stranger Improv Comedy Show”, this is an interactive evening where the audience shouts suggestions to the cast.  You can even get up on stage and do it yourself too.  As a result, this is going to be a wild and fun evening.  Tickets are only $25 each for an evening of non-stop laughter.

Hasbrouck Heights Is Having A Street Fair  street fair

Hasbrouck Heights is having a street fair Sunday and it’s going to be a blast.  If you don’t know about Hasbrouck Heights, you’re in for a treat.  This is a wonderful suburban town with good schools, a great NYC commute and an awesome business district along The Boulevard.  As a result, it has everything people come to Bergen County for.  It’s an all day event beginning at 10 am.  Don’t pass up the opportunity to dine there because The Heights has a lot of great restaurants too!

A Little Bit of Country, A Little Bit of Rock and Roll a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll

The Wyckoff YMCA (691 Wyckoff Ave in Wyckoff) is hosting a live outdoor concert Friday night.
