AladdinIt’s a very busy weekend coming up.  You might think it’s a Little Mermaid weekend but there is a lot going on in addition to this:

Children will enjoy seeing Aladdin and dinosaurs.  Sunday afternoon classical music concerts begin this weekend.  The outdoor antique and craft show season opens.  I’m not sure this counts as an event but the Rochelle Park CBD store has a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday.  There’s also 2 very special presentations:  The fight for women to get the right to vote and how to get help paying for college.

Here’s the lineup for this week:

  1. The Little Mermaid
  2. Aladdin
  3. Dinosaurs
  4. Classical Music
  5. CBD in Rochelle Park
  6. Women’s Voting Rights
  7. Springfest In The Park

1.  The Little Mermaid

Tenafly High School is bringing The Little Mermaid to town this weekend.  Presenting their interpretation of this extremely popular musical, seats are already filling up.  Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 pm with an additional matinee Saturday afternoon at 2 pm.  Tickets are online.

2.  Aladdin

Aladdin is coming to the Westfield Garden State Plaza this Saturday.  Geared toward young children, performances are at 11 and 1 pm for 30 minutes.  Highlights of this extremely popular musical will be acted and sung.  Free tickets are still available while VIP tickets are sold out almost immediately.  Because of this, be sure to register as soon as tickets become available on the website. This page show’s what’s coming up and how to register for Aladdin.  This is a great way to introduce children to Broadway’s best.

3.  Dinosaurs

Saturday is also dinosaurs at the Garden State Plaza.  There are two shows – one at 2 pm and one at 4 pm.  The meet and greet sessions are, unfortunately, immediately sold out.  Here too you have to be ready to pounce on your computer the minute these events are published.  You can register for the shows on line and while you’re there, why not ask to get on a wait list for the meet and greet.  You might just get a little lucky.

4.  Classical Music

Do you love classical music?  Would you like a great way to introduce children to it?  Then come to the Wyckoff Y Gazebo on Sunday afternoon for the next 3 weekends.  Symphony orchestra level musicians are giving 1 hour concerts there at 3 pm.  Tickets are $15 and purchase them in advance online.  It’s more at the gate!

5.  CBD in Rochelle Park

New Jersey has legalized recreational marijuana and we have a new CBD shop opening up in Rochelle Park.  The Sun West Company is opening Your CBD Store with a ribbon cutting ceremony this Saturday at 1 pm.  They will be giving away prizes.  It looks like a fun event for those who are interested,  They already have another store open in Carlstadt.

6.  Women’s Voting Rights

Getting women the right to vote in elections was a more than 70 year battle.  The story of this fight is being brought to us by the Bergen County Historical Society.  It’s being done as a Zoom program Thursday night at 7 pm; registration is online for the Zoom link.  If you’re not a Society member, they ask for a $5 donation.  This is going to be a great program because Carolyn Ivanoff is giving it.  She is a multiple award winning educator and historian so it should be fabulous.

7.  Springfest in the Park

Westwood’s Veterans Park is again becoming an antique and crafts fair this Sunday from 10 to 5.  They have 110 booths and all sorts of food trucks and vendors.  This opens up the outdoor fair season in earnest.  Springfest in the Park is an annual show that attracts thousands of people.

Look forward to going to one or several of these events.  Because weather is forecast to be great this weekend, get out and have some fun!
