Not much is happening this week as I’m sure you expect. This is known as Holy Week in the Christian calendar with Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Passover, an 8 day celebration of the liberation of the Israelites from slavery, begins at sundown on Friday night.
These 2 major religious holidays are the focus of this week as well they should be. Both involve a lot of preparation too. As a result, not much is happening.
Easter bunnies are in all the Paramus major shopping malls. Many Churches are having Easter egg hunts so check to see if yours has one scheduled. If you are not near your family for Passover, check out the Synagogues in your area because several are having community seders.
There are some special programs for children at Abma’s Farm all week. In addition for preschoolers, Mrs. Wonderwhys Nature Fun Fridays are back at the Closter Nature Center. Don’t forget about Broadway at the Garden State Plaza for youngsters on Saturdays too. This Saturday it’s the Lion King.
There’s another Full Moon Hike Saturday night at the Tenafly Nature Center. This is a 1.5 mile guided hike through the Nature Center woods. It’s a fun experience and you’ll learn a lot too. Because it’s an adult event, this is limited to those 18 years and older.
Also, this is when lawns need to be cut, thatched, seeded and fertilized. Since many of us have Good Friday off from work, this is a good time to get some or all of this done. Scotts has a good guide to what you need to do. Equally important is making sure your equipment is in good working order. Taking care of your lawn now saves a lot of aggravation later as a result.
