the 2022 theater season beginsThe 2022 theater season begins this weekend.  Local live theater is very important in Bergen County.  We have several theater groups and even some great children’s theater groups too.

Bergen County is filled with people from the music industry and arts.  This is because we are so close to Manhattan, one of the world’s major cultural centers.  Many people come to Bergen County just because of this alone.

Let’s see how the 2022 theater begins this weekend:

Bergen County Players, Inc.

Bergen County Players is one of our most renown live theater groups.  Located in what was an old firehouse, they put on truly amazing productions.  Saturday night is no different.

Brad Zimmerman is doing his hilarious 1 man show, My Son The Waiter, A Jewish Tragedy.  Brad is a very talented comedian who opened for, among others, Joan Rivers.  This very funny show is on Saturday night only at 8 pm.  Tickets are $25 and ordered online.  This theater, also called The Little Firehouse, is located at 298 Kinderkamack Rd in Oradell.

Theater on the EdgeThe Players Guild of Leonia

The Players Guild of Leonia is located in what was once a Civil War Drill Hall at 130 Grand Ave in Leonia.  While The Little Firehouse in Oradell is truly set up as a theater, here it’s so very intimate.  You almost feel as if you’re onstage with the cast.

They are putting on a very interesting production this weekend,Theater On The Edge, to open 2022.  It’s a combination of 5 one act plays plus 2 short songs.  Performances are at 8 pm on both Friday and Saturday nights.  Sunday it’s at 2 pm.  Tickets are $25 adults/$22 seniors & students; they’re purchased on the The Players Guild of Leonia website.

Black Box Theater

Back by popular demand, the Black Box Performing Arts Center is having an encore performance of Eric Bogosian’s play, 1+1.  This is a new play by this award winning playwright and actor.

Mr. Bogossian has created a very compelling drama about how a woman’s fate is tied to the men in her life.  Performances this weekend are Thursday through Sunday.  There are additional performances next weekend on Saturday and Sunday too.  Order tickets online by clicking on the date you want.  Prices are $25 for adults; seniors and students are $22.  Black Box PAC is located at 59 E Palisade Ave in Englewood.

You can see that the 2022 theater season begins with a wide variety to choose from.  There are great restaurants near or next to all of these theaters.  Enjoy a wonderful Bergen County experience this weekend!  Have a great meal out and a wonderful theatrical experience at a fraction of what it costs in NYC.
