Diversity is Bergen County.  There is a tremendous mix of different cultures and backgrounds here.  We also have an amazing range of housing styles and price ranges.  Because Bergen County is so diverse, there is something here for everyone.  This is also a major reason why our area is so popular.

Diversity is Bergen County for sure but it’s also the way of the world.  Because of this the National Association of Realtors created a special designation for diversity.  One of the requirements for this designation is completing the At Home With Diversity course.

This is a great course.  It teaches you a lot about different cultures and the diversity that exists in your own backyard.  My local Board of Realtors happens to be sponsoring it right now.  It’s so popular that it sold out quickly.

Here is some of the information you learn in this course:

Bergen County has 938,506 people

166,161 Hispanics live in Bergen County (18% of us)

50% of all New Jersey Koreans live in Bergen County

Over 40% of Bergen County’s entire Filipino population lives in Bergenfield

249,273 residents in NJ identify as LGBT (I bet we have a good number of these residents with Bergen County being the most populous NJ county at about 920,000 residents)

10 major religions are practiced in Bergen County

And 61,565 Bergen County residents are African American (6.6% of us)

As you can see, it’s more than a slogan to say that diversity is Bergen County.  We are a patchwork quilt of cultures.  Because of this Bergen County is a very welcoming community.  It also makes for great food.  We have all sorts of markets and restaurants from a variety of cuisines.

Let’s take Tenafly for example.  Tenafly has restaurants featuring food from China, Greece, France, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Middle East, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.  This is just 1 small town.

No matter who you are or where you come from, you’ll find a home in Bergen County.
