school snow daysIt’s that time of year when school snow days are coming.

We’re just past Thanksgiving, in the middle of Hanukkah and Christmas is only a few weeks away.  You can bet on it.  Snow is coming.

Meteorologists are predicting a lot of snow this winter.  Winter is not supposed to be harshly cold so that’s good.  Since we will have a lot of snow, get prepared now.

Along with snow can come school snow days.  Every child has prayed for enough snow to close their school. Remember those days?  I bet you do  What fun!  No school and I get to play in the snow with my friends.  What disappointment!  School is on and I get to trudge through slush.

If you’re a parent with school aged children this can be quite challenging.  Because you don’t know what’s happening until early in the morning, It adds an extra layer of stress to your very busy life.  You have to wait to hear from the school.

Schools do this through blast phone calls, email or text.  Sometimes it’s a combination of these.  No matter how your school does it, now is the time to make sure they have your contact information.

Many people work from home but a lot don’t.  Most of us go out of the house to work every day.  No one is home if school closes due to snow most of the time.  As a result, parents need contingency plans for school snow days.  Now is the time to take care of this too.  Waiting to do this is a huge mistake because you may not have any options last minute.  As a result, you may have to use up a vacation day if school closes.

Be prepared.  Get your ducks in order now so you won’t be stuck tomorrow.
