bergen county golfThe Bergen County golf season is underway at last.  It starts normally some time between mid March to mid April here but late last week we had a surprise.

Snow arrived in the form of several inches.  As a result, this interfered with course openings and tee times.  However, the game of golf is in full swing now and golf course tee times are booking up quickly.

Golf is very important and plays a significant role in the great quality of life Bergen County offers.  Golf courses provide playing opportunities for golfers.  They also provide open space which helps the environment too.  Additionally they add to the aesthetics here because they’re beautiful.  If you own a Bergen County home or are a Bergen County resident, you have many opportunities to play golf locally.

The Bergen County Golf Program is extremely popular.  Of the 6 courses that make up  our County golf program, all but 1 are 18 hole courses.  Programs and tournaments begin at age 8 and end with senior tours.  It’s so easy to schedule Bergen County Golftee times – you can book a tee time online.  Bergen County is justifiably proud of it’s excellent golf program and it’s beautiful courses.  The County added a 6th beautiful 18 hole course last year that was formerly a private golf course in Emerson.

Also open to the public is the River Vale Country Club with it’s 18 hole golf course and nearby in Old Tappan, there is the smaller 9 hole Old Tappan Golf Course.  River Vale promotes it’s public access and has a nice restaurant too.  Old Tappan is much more laid back being run by the Borough.  They have a rustic bar and and restaurant where you can get a bite to eat and drinks after you’ve finished your 9 holes.

In spite of winter hanging on a bit longer than usual, golf is most definitely open in Bergen County.  We have so many public options here.  Adult, senior and youth golf is a terrific added value to owning a Bergen County home.
