maple sugaring

It’s maple sugaring time in Tenafly NJ at the Tenafly Nature Center.

The Tenafly Nature Center is a wonderful facility.  However it’s not the only one.  Bergen County is so lucky to have many great nature centers. They are all so very important because they teach us to appreciate and understand the natural world.

The Tenafly Nature Center is one of the very best Bergen County has to offer.  “Yes Virginia”  you don’t have to go to Vermont.  There is maple sugaring right here in Tenafly for everyone to come and enjoy.  Maple sugaring is one of the most popular annual events at the Nature Center.  You won’t want to miss it.

This Sunday (February 24th) there are 2 sessions with openings so it’s not too late to register.  One is at 12:30-1:30 pm and the other is at 2-3 pm.  These are really great classes that will teach you and your family all about maple sugaring.

You learn how to spot a maple tree and the history of making maple syrup.   Next you go outside and find maple trees.  You tap one or see one being tapped if you wish, gather up the syrup and make some sweet, fresh maple syrup.  No matter the age, everyone has a good time.   maple sugaring

So if you’re wondering what to do this weekend and want something that’s educational, fun and different, go register your family to do some maple sugaring and save the drive to Vermont.

Oh – you’re booked for the weekend?  Go to the Tenafly Nature Center website and look up the other available dates.  Maple sugaring extends through March.

Because there’s so much offered by the Tenafly Nature Center, check out their Programs & Events section.  I’m sure there are other programs you’ll want too.

Maple sugaring is fun but it sells out quickly so reserve your spot ASAP!
