Have a free half hour on Wednesday? You do? Great! Then come on over to Englewood whether or not you own an Englewood home where there will be bloodmobiles at 3 Englewood Public Schools. The Englewood Teachers’ Association is sponsoring a special blood drive at Englewood Schools and the ETA is giving the schools a bonus: For every person donating blood the ETA will donate a book to the City of Englewood Public Schools.
If you’ve never been in a bloodmobile, I can tell you it’s a really neat experience. First of all, you feel so good donating blood. Second, it is a fully professional situation. Third, it doesn’t take long at all. Fourth, you can get some free soda, juice and cookies. Not bad for sitting there about 20 minutes I’d say.
The best way to donate blood is to call Community Blood Services at 201-251-3703. This is how you make a reservation for yourself at a specific time, You can also just show up. There will be a bloodmobile at the following 3 Englewood schools:
- D.A. Quarles Early Childhood Center – 155 Davison Pl – 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
- Dr. John Grieco Elementary School – 50 Durie Ave – 9 am to 2 pm
- Dwight Morrow High School – 274 Knickerbocker Rd – 9 am to 3 pm
Remember – you don’t need to own an Englewood home to donate blood on Wednesday. As a result, everyone is able to participate. Please donate blood if you work in Englewood or are just nearby.
There is an urgent need for blood donations because it seems there is never enough. Consequently local blood drives are extremely important. It takes less time than you’d expect. Not only will you feel good about yourself, most of all you’ll be helping others. Finally, please come to the blood drive and bring a friend!
