the toll booths on the George
Washington Bridge and 15 minutes to
all major highways. All metropolitan
airports are nearby as well – less
than a one hour drive and Bergen
County’s famous shopping malls are
less than 5 miles away.
As for shopping, Tenafly has a
robust and extensive business
district that covers many blocks in
size and contains everything from a
gourmet cooking shop to a local news
stand. We have everything in between
with plenty of good restaurants,
personal services such as beauty
salons and an exercise club, a
supermarket, dry cleaner, woman’s
dress shop and a multi generation
owned book store just for openers.
Because the down town is so
extensive, it’s also a place where
people meet each other; it’s not
unusual to see someone you know with
every trip. For all its large size,
Tenafly is a very close community.

school district – people move here
because of the schools which boast
the highest SAT scores in Bergen
County. In fact, Tenafly is one of
the most powerful school districts
in New Jersey with facilities second
to none. Parent participation is
high and school board elections are
hotly contested; people care keenly
about their school district and
support it strongly.
For all its reputation for
affluence, Tenafly has a
surprisingly wide demographic. It
has estate homes on acre lots on the
East Hill and more moderate
properties on the west side of town
but this is a tightly knit community
where people come together as one.
